Aloha No Kakou,
We are the Kekahuna-Ponce Ohana and we would like to introduce ourselves to you as Native Indigenous People of Hawaii, also known as Kanaka Maoli. Our Ohana are Indigenous people of the Hawaiian Islands, who traveled from Polynesia in the 5th Century A.D.
We are descendants from the Blood Line of King Kekaulike, through his 1st wife Kekuipoiwanui and through King Kamehameha-Nui Ai Luau, Liliha and Jane Loeau. (click here to learn more on our genealogy)
Our grandparents Joseph Nakakina Kekahuna and Mary Hoopai Kanui were from Kalawao, Molokai and together they had 3 children. Joseph Sebastian Kekahuna, Mary Gertrude Kekahuna and Cecelia Marie Kekahuna (identical twins). Joseph had 1 daughter – Joelynn Kekahuna. Mary Gertrude Kekahuna Johnson had 4 children – Tina Marie, Christina, Cecelia and Robert. Cecelia Marie Kekahuna married Joseph Ponce Sr. and together they had 6 children; Joseph Jr., Benedict (Benny), Alvin, Gerald and identical twins Cherlyn and Doralyn.
